Job Posting Details

The appointee is expected to undertake various duties at the Office of the Provost, including but not limited to:

1. Assist the Provost in academic personnel related matters, including: a) assisting in the formulation, review, and implementation of guidelines related to faculty appointments, promotions, substantiations, salary reviews, and compensation; b) developing implementation schedules of and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; c) overseeing the implementation and processing of faculty appointment packages and related applications, faculty concurrent outside appointments, consulting activities, sabbatical and no-pay leave applications, etc.; d) communicating guidelines to stakeholders and updating the Academic Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual;
2. Assist the Provost in the formulation of budget policies and guidelines, coordinate budget proposal submissions and preparations, monitor faculty budget and hiring plans, and coordinate approval for and downland of budget requests;
3. Collect and analyze appointment and budget data; and compile summary reports;
4. Supervise and provide guidance to team members; and manage their performance; and
5. Perform other duties as requested by the Provost.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree or above with at least 15 years of relevant post qualification work experience, out of which 5-8 years in management or supervisory role in a higher education environment. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is a must. The appointee should have demonstrated experience in team leadership, strong decision-making skills, proven ability to take initiatives, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of academic administration and planning is beneficial. Sound IT skills and readiness to become familiar with new platforms or tools relevant to the role are preferred. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. Housing benefits will also be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
